hey there. This is a blog to put down my thoughts and feelings for teaching, after working 5 years in the chemical engineering industry. Teaching in a polytechnic is not easy, but I hope my experiences and teaching style can be inspiring to many in time to come. For all my colleagues, students, ex-students and future students in Nanyang Polytechnic. Cheerios!

Life is a race against yourself and not anybody else, so take a stride at a time, enjoy your journey and savour your fruits of labour. For life is not measured by the number of breathes we take, but the moments take our breathes away, so whatever you do, and whatever happens, remember to smile. It is a beautiful world =)

Back to School

After 5 years plus, its finally back to school again! =)

The difference now is that I will assume the role of a teacher, rather than a student.

I have been on leave and course for the last two weeks, and we have just another week before school restarts. Heard that many things happened these two weeks: one of our colleague resigned, another colleague-to-be backs out on his contract, the holy time table is out and there are many loose ends to tie with managers and vendors when I return.. Not very encouraging, but life goes on.

I have come to realise that schooling and students are very different from before. Many coaching approaches and discipline methods no longer work in this Generation Z. It is now boiling down to relationships, rapport and reasoning. The three Rs.

But I am excited too, excited of the new challenges ahead and colourful life which I will be leading as a lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic. October 13th, here I come.
